When people don’t get enough sleep, why do they get dark baggy circles under their eyes? What causes this and how can you prevent and get rid of them?

Dark circles under the eyes can be from lack of sleep, or as my doctor told me, it can be a sign of allergies. I found a great cream for under the eyes with Chamomile (the tea bags work, too). I find it at Puritanspride.com. Puffiness can also be alleviated with a cold compress, some people use cucumbers, but they never worked for me like the Chamomile cream. Hope this helps.

It’s not fatigue-it’s nasal congestion or the eyelids swelling during sleep (I was interested too so I googled it!)

being stressed and tired

Most of the time it is genetic but can be caused by lack of sleep and allergies. Also people with allergic asthma can get them. I use an icebag wrapped in a damp hand towel over the eyes for 10 min or so. It helps with the swelling but dark circles, well I cover them with makeup.
